An epic battle for the truth

Plot Summary : Writer Peter Morgan’s legendary battle between Richard Nixon, the disgraced president with a legacy to save, and David Frost, a jet-setting television personality with a name to make, in the story of the historic encounter that changed both their lives. For three years after being forced from office, Nixon remained silent. But in summer 1977, the steely, cunning former commander-in-chief agreed to sit for one all-inclusive interview to confront the questions of his time in office and the Watergate scandal that ended his presidency. Nixon surprised everyone in selecting Frost as his televised confessor, intending to easily outfox the breezy British showman and secure a place in the hearts and minds of Americans (as well at a $600,000 fee). Likewise, Frost’s team harbored doubts about their boss’ ability to hold his own. But as cameras rolled, a charged battle of wits resulted.

MPAA : Rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements, sexual content and some violent images.

Language : English

Filming Locations : Bath, Somerset, England, UK

Company : BBC Films

Trivia : This is TV director Justin Chadwick’s first feature film.

Goofs : Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Although Mary is referred to in the film as the younger sister, most historians today are convinced that she was the eldest girl. Her date of birth is circa 1499, while Anne is believed to have been born in the early 1500s (historians continually debate between 1501 and 1507). The book that the film is based on was written with Mary as the younger sister, so the film itself makes no mistake in this arrangement.

Tag Lines : The only thing that could come between these sisters… is a kingdom.
Two sisters divided for the love for a king.
In an age where a woman’s destiny was determined by her father, one sister followed the rules. The other defied them.
What if you could have everything you ever wanted? What if all you had to do was betray the sister you loved?
They were the closest of sisters, until the most powerful man in the world made them rivals.
Do mesmo sangue, o mesmo amor. O destino decide. (Brazil)

Plot Summary : A sumptuous and sensual tale of intrigue, romance and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in European history: two beautiful sisters, Anne and Mary Boleyn, driven by their family’s blind ambition, compete for the love of the handsome and passionate King Henry VIII.
